It has been such a long time since I even had time to log in here. But in the meantime, I did a commission for Shatormar Arabians, which was a three generation portrait of the stallion Moonlight Moneymaker (for those that have seen him, you know how gorgeous he is) and his daughter and granddaughter. The owner of Moneymaker liked the drawing, so I'm told. Which is cool that he got to see it. I am getting website design in return for the portrait, which is pretty cool. And I've been working ALOT! Our manager was fired just before Christmas, and I've been filling in the position since. And thus the old saying, "The harder you work, the more they let you." Thank goodness we are finally getting a manager. I am happy being assistant. I don't want the job of store manager! Shudder. It isn't that I don't like what I've been doing, but to be manager means to have no other life at the retail store in which I work. I draw the line at NEVER seeing my family. My district manager wants me to "grow" in the company. But I want to grow with my own business, not making someone else rich for the rest of my life for very little appreciation. Though to be fair, my dm does show me appreciation.
And I've been riding dressage, which was always my dream. There's been a bit of a hiatus in the midst of all the work angst. But I'm getting back in the saddle Friday.
And, most exciting! It's foaling season. We are awaiting three babies. They should start showing up in the next two to three weeks. Angelita Classica is due to foal in two weeks and she's spending her last few weeks in pampered luxury in her stall, with walks to keep her in shape and I've never seen a horse more willing to be pampered. She is so demanding! When feeding time rolls around, she stands at the door of her stall and digs a hole in the ground with impatience.
During our recent tornado scare, she was outside, poor baby. We ended up getting golf ball size hail and there was no one here to put the girls inside. I felt so bad. When I got home, I went to check on them and they were ok, but I have never seen a horse so clearly tell me what she thought about it. She told me all about it. Thankfully, they only got a few bruises.
I know how scared I was. I was in the office doing paperwork when the sirens went off and when I went to look outside, there was a HUGE black cloud heading straight for us, and it indeed sounded just like a freight train. I was scared! My youngest son was at his friends and I didn't know if he was safe or not. That was what scared me. WE were on the cell phone talking back and forth throughout the whole thing. I hope no more of those storms come that close to us again. I hope no one else had much damage during the crazy weather we've been having. The worst we had was a broken window and our road washed most of the way out.
But all is well that ends well.

Maybe some of these people purported to have a heart of Gold, really just have a heart made of cold hard metal.
